Morning Has Broken

Moving…at Christmas Time!

Yes…I’m still here for those of you that have been wondering and have given up checking my blog! Where has the past month gone?!

One daughter home from college, AWANA Christmas party gingerbread houses, parents move from another state to just a few blocks away…and a partridge in a pear tree!!

The daughter home from college has been wonderful, but an adjustment for us all. Now that we are just about adjusted, it’s almost time for her to head back to the northeast. So that will be an adjustment.

Every year now for three years we have made gingerbread houses to give away at our AWANA Christmas party. Three houses, to be exact. The assembly part can be a little frustrating and time consuming, but I love the decorating part. This year we got together with another home-schooling mom and her children and worked on them together. This family makes theirs to take up to the local nursing home. So, that made it even more fun!

My parents moved here this past week-end with the help of my husband, the daughter home from college and our son…and me. That was an interesting three days and we were all exhausted of course. Moving is hard enough across town…but throw in an eight hour drive each way for us…you get the picture. But, it is wonderful to know that they are just a few blocks away now. It will make the holidays even more special and the children are SO excited to have their grandparents here. I think the moving was even more difficult for me because I kept thinking of all our furniture and belongings sitting in storage in upstate New York from our move over a year ago. So, I still have all that to look forward to!

So, now that all that is said and done, I do hope to settle down and start enjoying this special season. Spend some time with dear friends, bake, listen to Christmas music. Make all those memories that we all pull out in later years and remember fondly with perhaps a tear. And you know what? I bet a move will sneak in there somewhere! Merry Christmas to you all! I wish you many blessings and peace in the New Year!
